Toad in the Sun, an idiom meaning that everything is going good, and also the name of my etsy shop!

I make jewelry out of gemstones and other natural materials and sell them at my etsy shop!

Most of what I make is centered around pride, and all items are Made-to-Order.

The full rainbow!

Made with: red jasper, red adventurine, jade, moss agate, lapis, and amethyst.

Ace pride!

Made with: obsidian, labradorite, amethyst, and white glass beads.

Bisexual Pride!

Made with: rhodonite, amethyst, and lapis.

I also have a few that aren’t specific to pride.

This is a closeup of a long infinity necklace, I just love the rippling pattern on these beads!

movemequotes:

Once a little boy went to school.
One morning
The teacher said:
“Today we are going to make a picture.”
“Good!” thought the little boy.
He liked to make all kinds;
Lions and tigers,
Chickens and cows,
Trains and boats;
And he took out his box of crayons
And began to draw.

But the teacher said, “Wait!”
“It is not time to begin!”
And she waited until everyone looked ready.
“Now,” said the teacher,
“We are going to make flowers.”
“Good!” thought the little boy,
He liked to make beautiful ones
With his pink and orange and blue crayons.
But the teacher said “Wait!”
“And I will show you how.”
And it was red, with a green stem.
“There,” said the teacher,
“Now you may begin.”

The little boy looked at his teacher’s flower
Then he looked at his own flower.
He liked his flower better than the teacher’s
But he did not say this.
He just turned his paper over,
And made a flower like the teacher’s.
It was red, with a green stem.

On another day
The teacher said:
“Today we are going to make something with clay.”
“Good!” thought the little boy;
He liked clay.
He could make all kinds of things with clay:
Snakes and snowmen,
Elephants and mice,
Cars and trucks
And he began to pull and pinch
His ball of clay.

But the teacher said, “Wait!”
“It is not time to begin!”
And she waited until everyone looked ready.
“Now,” said the teacher,
“We are going to make a dish.”
“Good!” thought the little boy,
He liked to make dishes.
And he began to make some
That were all shapes and sizes.

But the teacher said “Wait!”
“And I will show you how.”
And she showed everyone how to make
One deep dish.
“There,” said the teacher,
“Now you may begin.”

The little boy looked at the teacher’s dish;
Then he looked at his own.
He liked his better than the teacher’s
But he did not say this.
He just rolled his clay into a big ball again
And made a dish like the teacher’s.
It was a deep dish.

And pretty soon
The little boy learned to wait,
And to watch
And to make things just like the teacher.
And pretty soon
He didn’t make things of his own anymore.

Then it happened
That the little boy and his family
Moved to another house,
In another city,
And the little boy
Had to go to another school.

The teacher said:
“Today we are going to make a picture.”
“Good!” thought the little boy.
And he waited for the teacher
To tell what to do.
But the teacher didn’t say anything.
She just walked around the room.

When she came to the little boy
She asked, “Don’t you want to make a picture?”
“Yes,” said the little boy.
“What are we going to make?”
“I don’t know until you make it,” said the teacher.
“How shall I make it?” asked the little boy.
“Why, anyway you like,” said the teacher.
“And any color?” asked the little boy.
“Any color,” said the teacher.
And he began to make a red flower with a green stem.

I hate that I hesitated to reblog this just because I expect people to think it’s pretentious or melodramatic when it’s seriously real as fuck and I’ve witnessed it

Fuck man

very funny that i still think of tumblr as being relaxing because sometimes I’ll come on this site and my eyes will immediately be assaulted by a string of words that even monkeys with typewriters would be sent to hell for and I’ll just have to deal with that

people replying with “curate your own experience. just block those people” are missing the point. I come on here everyday and my bestest and most beloved of mutuals put together posts meant to deal me 12d8 psychic damage and I like it that way

It’s been a while since I’ve had to do this, but…. I’m a disabled trans woman. Last week, I was sick and had to miss some work. I had budgeted so very carefully, but missing the time at work means I may not be able to afford my medication at the end of the month, without which I am unable to function (making it near impossible to work enough to get my medication). My insurance does not cover medication, so I have to pay out of pocket with discount cards.

This is compounded by the fact that I had already scheduled time off, and wasn’t able to cancel that time off.

The short of it is that I am currently set to choose between food and medicine around that time (I will choose medicine).

If I can get a total of $200 USD, I can afford both.

If I can get another $150, (this one is a 6 month supply) I’ll be able to afford my estrogen *before* I run out instead of a month or so after.

Below is a picture of my last receipt from getting my monthly meds. Even with the discount cards, it’s pretty expensive.

a great thing about people transitioning is it presents us with scenarios where we have the perfect control variable to undeniably reveal sexism in the workplace. I read about a trans man neuroscientist who was told he was “so much smarter than his sister” (his sister being his pre-transition self)

and damn i knew the gaming industry was notoriously sexist (even more sexist than other stem fields, and that’s saying a lot) but seeing it laid out so clearly like this is so demoralizing.

Ben Barres was that neuroscientist

Wanna help Maire get dental care?

Maire texted me today saying she didn’t budget for dental care in her May fundraiser.

She only needs $35 for it but she needs it by next week.

I’d just send it to her if I could but I’m poor + having an expensive month myself and have already sent her everything I can spare.

Can any financially secure adult help?

A dollar here and a dollar there could get her there fast!!
